Ortega Guitars was founded in 1994 as part of Germany’s Roland Meinl musical instrument group, melding German design with traditional Spanish guitar craftsmanship, initially producing six classical guitar models handmade in Spain. Over the years, the brand expanded into a wide range of stringed instruments—including steel‑string acoustics, ukuleles, mandolins, banjos, acoustic basses, and even percussion stomp boxes. Ortega became known for innovative features such as slimmer necks, two‑way truss rods, and the 12‑hole bridge on nylon‑string models, and introduced lines tailored to different players—from fractional guitars for young learners to signature editions by artists like Thomas Zwijsen and Ben Woods. Today, Ortega Guitars is a global presence, offering both entry‑level instruments and performance‑ready gear, grounded in their 1994 heritage of German‑Spanish guitar fusion.
